I'm nearing the end of Anna Karenina and feel surprised by the messages I missed when I last read it 17 years ago.

We may want our daughters to learn from these mentors, but sometimes they just won't understand until they have learned some of life's lessons on their own.brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13066029069357117246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994806579073612218.post-84763941666501769432010-01-25T11:59:56.347-07:002010-01-25T11:59:56.347-07:00I first read Jane Eyre about 40 years ago. I have read Jane Eyre 3 times in the last 10 years. I have wanted to memorize some of the dialogue and some of the musings so that when I am in conversation with young women I can actually quote some of the material.

Thank you for your musings. I am glad I have found where to find your writings. And thank you for your question about what's next as I will actually take on the memorization. Thanks for the question.

And thanks again for your thoughts.

M DianeM Dianenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994806579073612218.post-73654044620488851042010-01-21T18:45:41.605-07:002010-01-21T18:45:41.605-07:00dd cole fam...you aren't going to like what...dd cole fam...you aren't going to like what's next. :) But it is a really good book. I'm amazed at how conscious I have to be to rid myself of the feebleness in my life; what I really value & thus how I spend my time, etc. I believe that though our younger generation is ignorant to the definitions of
"standing steadfast in truth and in principle" that something inside them longs for it. We can pray they recognize it when they see it. In the meanwhile I'll pray for a Helen Burns in my daughter's life.
